The Science of Getting Rich Overview

Firstly, I will start this The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace D Wattles review by saying how profound and beneficial this book was for me. I attracted it into my experience through the unfolding of my interest in metaphysics and how things manifest in our lives. I found it online as a free pdf download and was then compelled to buy it and own my own physical copy. I read it from start to finish five times over, each time crystalising and expanding my eager inner knowing of the information contained within the book. The whole point of the book is to help you develop the correct mindset to become rich, prosperous, wealthy, or however you like to describe it, in a fulfilling and inspirational way so that you will benefit not only yourself but also the lives of the many others that you interact with on your journey to greatness.  I was very impressed with how simple and clear Wallace D Wattles delivers the content and I was also amused with the fact that it had taken me thirteen years to find such a concise and easily understandable source that described the true nature of reality and how to be in harmony with it. This book, in my opinion, is without question an incredibly empowering and instructive book, and considering it’s first publication was  in 1910, The Science of Getting Rich  still stands as a timeless and priceless gem of metaphysical literary genius.

The Pragmatical Science of the Content

The reason this book refers to getting rich as being a science is because of the evidence that can be experienced through the application of the information. Wallace himself refers to this book as a practical manual for those, ”..who wish to get rich first, and philosophise afterward.” If you are coming from a non-metaphysical perspective then this book may cause you to either cast it aside as mumbo-jumbo or stop you in your tracks and see the world completely differently. For those of you who already have a basic grasp of metaphysics or are already practicing, I’m sure you will hoover up the information in this book and pass it on to anyone who will listen to you for thirty seconds! The core basis of the content is derived from a life time of studying all of the world’s great philosophers, all of which Wallace concluded as having the same thread of truth about how life really works.

Here is Wallace D Wattles’ take on how we create the things in our lives..

“There is a thinking stuff from which all things are made. A thought, in this substance, produces the thing that is imaged by the thought.”

Easy to Digest

What gives The Science of Getting Rich such appeal is that it is written in a style that was quite uncommon for it’s time in the literary circles of the early 1900’s. This was Wallace D Wattles’ intention, to create a book that, ”..sacrificed all other considerations to plainness and simplicity of style, so that all might understand.” This really is the case as when you read each of the thorough and yet quite short seventeen chapters, there is a flow that is very easy to digest. The book only contains about 100 pages but each page is condensed from a vast expanse of research, giving you the benefit of not having to spend years and years of doing your own studies and coming to exactly the same conclusion. A great example of the power of the information is that The Science of Getting Rich was the inspiration behind the bestselling book and film, ‘The Secret’. It’s author Linda Byrne is listed on the further reading section of Tom Butler-Bowden’s introduction. The Science of Getting Rich free e-book that I first read was actually from The Secret’s website found here by clicking the link below.

Pros and Cons

I’ll tell you now that the pros easily outweigh the cons in this book. The author’s intention is to empower the reader to live a fulfilling and successful life that can also be of great service to others through the uplifting journey undertaken through it’s teachings. However there are always things that can be improved, as is the case with any creation.

The Pros

  • Easy to read style of writing
  • Manageable number of pages to read
  • Simple and practical instructions
  • Condensed metaphysical teachings of great masters
  • Proven results of it’s teachings
  • Beneficial to the reader, their family, friends and colleagues

The Cons

  • Could be too general for a non-metaphysically minded person to grasp
  • Could focus more on imagination being the prior step and generator of thoughts

Grateful Conclusion

I have studied metaphysics for many years and reading this book helped me to really get a handle on the true nature of reality, how life really works and how to apply that knowledge to create a fulfilling life. I was no stranger to the content of the teachings in the book but it’s simplicity and delivery was something that I had not encountered before and it gave me a step up to the next level of understanding. I particularly enjoyed the creative vs competitive mindset part and also the chapter on gratitude, or appreciation as I prefer to call it.  I have practiced being appreciative for many years and do so even more since reading The Science of Getting Rich. Gratitude is the longest chapter in the book and it’s importance is emphasised in Wallace D Wattles’ following statement..

”Man may come into full harmony with the Formless Substance by entertaining a lively and sincere gratitude for the blessings it bestows upon him. Gratitude unifies the mind of man with the intelligence of Substance, so that man’s thoughts are received by the Formless. Man can remain on the creative plain only by uniting himself with the Formless Intelligence through a deep and continuous feeling of gratitude”

I have read quite a few metaphysical books, texts and lectures both in hard copy and online, however none have compelled me as much as this one to purchase and have my own physical copy to keep. This is a very special book and I’m very proud to say that it is part of my collection.

The Science of Getting Rich is an absolute winner and will give you way more in value than the cost of it’s pages!

Thank you for reading my review of The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace D Wattles, I hope you found it helpful and I imagine you living a fulfilling and successful life already!

In Appreciation

  2. Hi Nathan,

Thank you for this post! I recently realised that I wasn’t doing what I truly wanted in life. I was following others dreams, but not my own.

I lost motivation and self-confidence, so I started to watch motivational videos and read books like the one you talk about here, but I haven’t read this one. After reading your review, I’ll definitely do it.

    Congratulations!

  3. As a loa enthusiast and lover of all things metaphysical I truly enjoyed this post. So much so that i just downloaded the Kindle version of The Science of Getting Rich. I have heard this title previously, mainly from other self development authors but reading this post has piqued my interest and as they say when the student is ready, the teacher will appear. The information in your well thought out post was just the push I needed to make this my next read and I hope it does the same for your other readers.

    1. Hi Debbie, thank you so much for your comment. It’s always a pleasure to meet another loa enthusiast and it’s an honor to have been a cooperative component in your journey to owning The Science of Getting Rich, I’m sure you will benefit greatly from reading it. I’m going to have to give you full credit for choosing to buy it because that push you mentioned I believe was in fact you pulling yourself up to speed with the version of yourself that you imagined and have now become!

All the very best to you,

      Nathan

  4. I am a huge fan of The Law of Attraction, and so I found this review compelling enough to check out the book. I ordered it on my Kindle and cannot wait to read it!

I am curious to hear specifics about your experience with the Law—how has your life changed because of it? I have noticed that the primary way my life has changed is with the different direction of my thoughts. Every day, if I am positive and tell a “positive” story about my life, things just seem to work out much better.

    1. Hi Elizabeth, thanks for your comment. I’m very glad you found my review compelling and you bought the Science of Getting Rich..You are going to love it!

I have many specific examples of practicing the Law, I consciously use it every day to create my reality. This website was created by using the Law, it came from imagining the feeling of being of service doing something I love. I had no details in the beginning, just a feeling I imagined and a deep and persistant focus of appreciation for receiving that feeling. Over time the feeling brought inspired actions that have been exciting and free flowing. The most empowering part I believe of using the law is like you mentioned, attaining control of one’s thoughts and subsequent feelings and actions. This has changed my life massively and I find myself present in the Now more and more every day, and of course, feeling good!

Keep telling yourself those positive stories, I’m sure you will ‘real-ise’ them soon enough. Do you have any examples to share of how you have used the Law?

Thanks again and all the very best to you,

      In appreciation,

      Nathan

  5. A blog post titled, ‘The Science of Getting rich’ had to lure me in.

I thought it might be a hard read, but your review was very clear and concise. And of course, it led me to finding the book, and getting it on audio as I have some accumulated credit.

Thank you for sharing! Metaphysics seems interesting!

    1. Hello Jacquie, thanks for stopping by and commenting. Yes The Science of Getting Rich is a very enticing title of a book, exactly the intention of the author I believe! Very glad you were attracted to it and bought the audio version. Sounds like it was a smooth manifestation on your behalf seeing as you already had some accumulated credit, definitely the path of least resistance in operation and a great example of the Law serving you.

It was my pleasure to share and I hope you continue to delve deeper into the art of metaphysics.

All the very best to you,

      Nathan
